Who we are affects the choices we make.
At Intrinsic, we believe that a rising tide lifts all ships. We believe in community over competition. We believe in people.
We believe in being fed by the outdoors. We believe in play.
We believe in brands of unwavering quality with distinguished value.
The retail environment is at a turning point. Big box stores represent a glut of sameness. Large brands are over-leveraged by real estate. Large publicly traded companies at the whims of quarterly earnings reports needing to find ways to manage and cut cost have lost sight of values. This means sacrificing on quality and/or discounting structures which erode brand reputation and value. Meanwhile there has been a rise or rather return of the artisanal economy.
Intrinsic Provisions is more than just a store. It’s a place where passion lives. It’s a place where there’s a belief in community. Where everyone is welcome. The items we offer are thoughtfully curated because of a belief in those brands, the stories and the people behind them. We’ve taken the time to get to know them so we can convey their intrinsic value.
So who are we and how did we get here?
Mark Boles founded Intrinsic Provisions in May of 2019 and is the second of three Black-owned outdoor stores in the country.
